THE BEAUTY OF BUS TIME Both of the tours we took covered some ground. In Slovenia and Croatia almost 800 miles, and in Turkey (which is roughly the size of Texas) we logged over 1000 miles. Of course, there is always time to gaze at the changing landscape flashing by (particularly delightful in the Julian Alps), and post-lunch bus naps are also welcome. Another good use of bus time is for learning! Both Barbara and Taylan gave us good city orientations, culture and language lessons - we learned about everything from taxes, healthcare, education, politics, culture, as well as the history. There were always fun snacks passed around, time to visit with other tour members, or catch up on journaling. Pro Tip: Be sure to sit in the front of the bus at least once. You'll get a birds-eye perspective that is really striking. Far Right, Katy and I living large in the front seat! |
